The Transport Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat defeated former vice-president Datuk Chua Jui Meng in the MCA elections. Tee Keat polled 1,429 votes while Jui Meng received 917 votes. Tee Keat, whose election manifesto was ‘My Agenda for Change’, had urged party members to give him the mandate to bring about reforms for MCA. In the race for the deputy president’s post Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek emerged victorious. The four new MCA vice-presidents are Datuk Kong Cho Ha, Liow Tiong Lai, Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen and Tan Kok Hong. (The Star)
