KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of PROTON HOLDINGS BHD [] rose in early trade on Sept 23, when trading resumed, on news that Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary had submitted a bid to purchase a block of shares in Proton.
At 9.22am, Proton was up 14 sen to RM4.58. There were 473,600 shares done.
The FBM KLCI rose 7.12 points to 1,228.32. Turnover was 86 million shares done valued at RM102 million.
The Edge weekly reported that the low-key tycoon, who is DRB-Hicom's major shareholder had submitted a bid to acquire a block of shares in Proton. However, this will not trigger a mandatory general offer, according to the report.
