MYEG post higher profit

MALAYSIA'S E-government services provider, MY EG Services Bhd (MYEG), posted a higher pre-tax profit of RM4.52 million in the first quarter ended September 30, 2009. The pre-tax profit was higher by 7.6 per cent from the RM4.2 million in the same quarter last year. Revenue, rose by 11 per cent, from RM12.24 million to RM13.59 million. "The encouraging result is due to higher-margin services of online renewal of automobile insurance and road tax transactions. "This is certainly in line with our expectations during the service launch last year," said executive chairman Datuk Dr Norraesah Mohamad in a statement today. The group, she said, was also in discussions with the government to roll out a new online tax monitoring system.

"This new project is part and parcel of our continuous effort to seek viable opportunities to expand our business. "Once implemented, we believe that the new project would be one of the main contributors towards the organic growth of the group, in addition to helping the government in its tax collection in an effective manner," she added. MYEG, a MSC-status company is listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. - BERNAMA
