Rin, Tiong family dismiss speculation of EON Cap stakes Rin Kei Mei and the Tiong family have dismissed speculation that they are willing to sell their equity stakes in EON Capital Bhd at RM8.20 per share to Hong Leong Bank Berhad. In a joint statement issued by Kualapura (M) Sdn Bhd on Saturday (19 Dec), they denied “any assertion by BNP Paribas’’ over a proposed disposal of their stakes. Kualapura is controlled by investor Rin Kei Mei and his family. To recap, Hong Leong Bank said last Thursday that Bank Negara did not have any objection for it to commence negotiations with certain shareholders of EON Capital Bhd on a potential acquisition of the assets and liabilities, including equity interests, in EON Capital. Rin and Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, collectively own a 32.57% stake in EON Cap. (The Edge)
