Fajarbaru bids for RM2b govt tenders


FAJARBARU Builder Group Bhd, is bidding for RM2 billion worth of building construction and Light Rail Transit-related infrastructure projects. The group recently secured a RM36.5 million project to undertake phase one of the Pasir Mas Halal Park in Kelantan and RM62.377 million worth of earthworks and infrastructure for Phase 2 of the Automotive Industrial Park in Pekan, Pahang. The projects were awarded by the East Coast Economic Region Development Council. 
 
"We are in a good position to bid and undertake more projects under the Tenth Malaysia Plan. We are discussions as well as pursuing several tenders," Chief Executive Officer cum Managing Director, Datuk Ir Low Keng Kok told reporters after the company's annual general meeting here today. He said Fajarbaru would focus more on domestic jobs for now as there would be sufficient jobs in the country for the next two years with the government promoting economic growth in Malaysia. Low added, given the group's good track record, skill and knowledge in the construction sector, the comany was in a good position to undertake more government projects. The group achieved a lower revenue of RM165.94 million for the financial year ended June 30, 2010 compared with RM184.63 million recorded in the same period last year. Despite reduced revenue, profit after tax was higher at RM24.62 million against RM14.36 million registered previously. - BERNAMA
