Why Lactogen is so cheap compare to other brand milk?
What is DHA, SA and AA???
DHA, which stands for docosahexaenoic acid is a type of nutrient from the family of omega-3 fatty acid. It is an important nutrient for your child as large amounts of DHA are found in the brain. The human brain is composed of 60% fat. Out of this, DHA makes up 25% fat. Research findings have concluded that DHA helps in the transmission of chemical messages in our brain.
DHA can be found in oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring and tuna. Besides these, fish oil also contains a certain percentage of DHA. If a child is not eating enough fish, DHA can be supplemented by drinking Dutch Lady Growing Up Milk. The supplementation of DHA is still important to them in order to prevent the decreasing level of DHA in your child’s body.
Similar to DHA, AA is the abbreviation given to another type of fatty acid which is from the omega-6 family. Arachidonic acid (known as AA) is also found in large quantities in the human brain. As mentioned earlier, our brain consists of 60% fat, of which 25% is made up of DHA and another 15% of AA. Both DHA and AA are two important types of fat because they are the building blocks of the brain which involve the thinking process.
The sources of AA are meats (especially red meat, organ meat) and egg yolk. The level of AA in red meat is higher than white meat because basically red meat contains more fat. Both DHA and AA can be found in breast milk too. Similar to DHA, the supplementation of AA will help to prevent the depletion of AA in a child’s body.
Other than these 2 types of fat which play a crucial role in transmitting chemical messages, sialic acid (known as SA) is another nutrient that can be found in both breast milk and cow's milk. Unlike DHA and AA, SA is not a type of fat but carbohydrate.
In the human body, large quantities of SA are found in our brain. SA is an important part of the brain structure, which involves the transmission of chemical messages and cell-to-cell interactions. The supplementation of SA is important for young children to help them maintain and increase the level of SA in their brain.
