Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won a seat in parliament after a landslide victory at the Permatang Pauh by-election yesterday, beating Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah and AKIM’s Hanafi Hamat.
According to the Election Commission’s official count, Anwar beat Arif by a 15,671-vote margin.
He polled 31,195 votes against Arif’s 15,524.
