Maxis rolls out HSPA+ technology in Klang Valley and JB

Finally a good news from the internet provider.

TM sucks. Should I complain to MCMC regarding the changing of billing name because they ask me to cancel my current line and wait for 1 month to reapply. Why I want to change the billing name???? For income tax deduction of RM 500 start next year.

Ridiculous.

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd today implemented High-Speed Packet Access+ (HSPA+) for its wireless broadband subscribers on a trial basis in the Klang Valley and Johor Bahru.

The incorporation of HSPA+ into Maxis' existing 3G network will enable users in these areas to experience significantly faster download speeds.

Maxis is the first telecommunications company in the country to deploy the TECHNOLOGY [].

"The capability of HSPA+ will meet Malaysians' ever-increasing demand for higher speeds in accessing the digital realm on the go, making browsing the Internet, video-streaming, uploading and downloading of high-resolution files enjoyable and seamless," said Maxis executive vice-president and head of network and technology Mark Dioguardi.

"For the past 12 to 18 months, we have substantially increased the coverage, download/upload speeds and reliability of our wireless broadband service," he said, adding the move was a "positive commitment" towards Maxis' goals of enriching consumers' lives by providing advanced and innovative technologies.

HSPA+ is the latest form of advancement in 3G/HSPA network capabilities built on a new radio modulation technique called 64QAM.

It is able to support peak-rated network speeds of 21 Mbps, although users can expect speeds of 10 Mbps to 15 Mbps in environments with good coverage. In certain areas of the network, this would represent a doubling of current download speeds.

The HSPA+ technology is expected to be made available to more Maxis subscribers in phases throughout 2010 and into 2011.
