# Sarawak Plantation Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose to RM30.058 million from RM12.901 million in the same period last year. Revenue increased to RM130.249 million from RM68.121 million previously. For the six months, SPB recorded a pre-tax profit of RM51.452 million from RM28.665 million in the previous corresponding period while revenue surged 53.5 per cent to RM220.392 million. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, the company attributed the better results to higher average selling prices for crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel. 

# Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011, jumped to RM112.259 million from RM44.179 million in the same period last year. Revenue surged to RM288.185 billion from RM157.464 billion previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. The company said the increased profit was mainly contributed by higher average crude palm oil and palm kernel prices realised and sales volume during the period. 

# Ranhill Bhd recorded a pre-tax loss of RM16.183 million for the three months ended June 30, 2011 compared to a pre-tax profit of RM25.018 million a year ago. Revenue fell to RM499.675 million from RM644.149 million previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. The company said its weaker performance was due to lower recognition of revenue from Libya Housing project and Senai Desaru Expressway project. 

# MWE Holdings Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose to RM15.547 million from RM13.948 million in the same period last year. Revenue increased to RM133.13 million from RM115.642 million previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. MWE said the higher revenue was mainly derived from textile and freight division while higher profit for the period arose from the disposal gain of the construction unit and Hong Kong associates. MWE said it was optimistic on its performance for the second half of the year despite a challenging term ahead. 


# CB Industrial Product Holding Bhd's (CBIP) pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose to RM28.72 million from RM15.01 million in the same period last year. Its revenue increased to RM100.67 million from RM76.72 million previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. CBIP said the higher revenue was driven by the improvement in the plantation segment due to the increase in fresh fruit bunch yield and prices of palm products. "The improved performance by the associates and jointly-controlled entities in the plantation business also contributed to the increase in the group's pre-tax," it said. CBIP expected the group to achieve satisfactory results for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2011. 

# NPC Resources Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 increased to RM12.24 million from RM9.84 million in the previous corresponding quarter. Its revenue rose to RM125.62 million from RM94.63 million previously, it said in a statement today. The company attributed the better results to higher crude palm oil and palm kernel prices. 

# Sealink International Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 decreased to RM7.093 million from RM10.816 million in the same quarter last year. However, revenue rose to RM47.199 million from RM44.798 million, the company said in a statement today. Taking a cautiously optimistic view of a recovery in the global economy, the company said it will continue to improve its core competencies in ship building, chartering and repair activities locally as well as abroad in preparation for the economic turnaround. 

# LBS Bina Group Bhd recorded a pre-tax profit of RM29 million for the first-half year ended June 30, 2011 compared to a pre-tax loss of RM3 million previously. Revenue rose to RM177 million from RM111 million previously, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. LBS Bina said it was confident of achieving further improvement in its performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2011. 

# Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011 fell to RM40 million from RM45 million in the same period last year. Revenue, however, rose to RM119 million from RM106 million previously, it said in a statement today. Bintulu Port is an international port which is strategically located in North-East Sarawak along the route between the Far East and Europe. -- Bernama
