MAA Group Bhd posted RM158.567 million in pre-tax profit for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2011, a jump from RM36.889 million last year. Revenue for the period, however, fell to RM1.732 billion from RM2.264 billion. For its fourth quarter ending Dec 31, 2012, MAA's pre-tax profit soared to RM70.551 million from RM7.307 million in the same quarter last year. In contrast, revenue for the three-month period fell to RM125.225 million from RM648.1 million, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today. MAA attributed the financial results growth mainly to the RM85.6 million gain from the sale of subsidiaries arising from a subsequent upward adjustment of RM86 million to RM344 million sale consideration. Upon completion of the disposal, the company will become an affected listed issuer pursuant to PN17 of the Listing Requirements, it said. "The group will continue to focus on developing its existing businesses, particularly its takaful and unit trust fund management, and to accelerate these businesses future growth," it added. -- BERNAMA
