KUALA LUMPUR: The Skim Amanah Rakyat 1Malaysia (SARA 1Malaysia) is now available to benefit households with monthly incomes of less than RM3,000.
The scheme is aimed at increasing the disposable income and encourage savings among the lower income group, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the launch of the scheme on Thursday.
During the tabling of the 2012 Budget, Najib had announced that such a scheme would be made available to benefit 100,000 household.
Under the scheme, those eligible can invest RM5,000 of their savings or obtain a loan from financial institutions where they will enjoy monthly return of RM134.
