Ho Wah Genting Bhd is venturing into the green technology sector via its subsidiary company, HWG Consortium Sdn Bhd, following the signing of two project management agreements with Wawasan MajuJuta Sdn Bhd and Optima Tenaga Letrik Sdn Bhd.
HWG Consortium Chairman Megat D'Shahriman (D'Shahriman) Zaharudin said HWG will finance, supply and maintain energy efficient Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights and patented low carbon energy efficiency refrigeration technology. He said the company will start off with installing the LED lights at Felda Global Venture Holdings Bhd where it will help to reduce about 40 per cent energy usage. "We will start to install LED lights in 70 Felda mills and refineries early next month," he told reporters after the signing of the agreement today. He said the company was also in the process of installing LED lights for several ministries such as the Health Ministry and Education Ministry. "We will start installing LED in the Health Ministry in August and the other ministries will follow soon," he said. Megat D'Shahriman said under the agreement, HWG Consortium will be the sole and exclusive project manager for the manufacture, supply, installation, maintenance and finance of the energy efficient LED lights and related green technololgies. "Wawasan MajuJuta and Optima Tenaga Letrik respectively, will procure green projects from the Malaysian government and its agencies as well as government linked companies and multinational corporations," he said.--BERNAMA
