Hydrofuel

I watched TV3 news yesterday and they are introducing hydrofuel and the website is http://www.hydrofuel.com.my/.

I click inside it said under construction (WTF).

If it is true, why no mass advertisement?

If it is true, why Minister not promoting?

Malaysia boleh.

Saving petrol with hydrogen fuel technology

By ZURINNA RAJA ADAM February 11 2006

HFT Sdn Bhd claims to have developed Hydrogen Fuel Technology (HFT) that can enables a car to run on equal parts of petrol and water. With HFT, vehicles can save up to 50 per cent in fuel consumption, company chairman Mohamad Isa Abdullah said, adding that water acts as a complementary additive to petrol. A tank, which can store up to 10 litres of water, is installed in the boot of the car. A high compression processing canister divides the water into hydrogen and oxygen particles, which are then injected into the petrol fuel line. The mixture of petrol, hydrogen and oxygen will flow into the carburettor and the engine, enabling the car to run as usual. Mohamad Isa said the HFT application is expected to be commercialised by July this year, where about 5,000 units for the 1.3 Proton Iswara will be manufactured and introduced to taxi drivers. "We hope to get the proper certification from AAM (Automobile Association of Malaysia) by April," he told Business Times in Kuala Lumpur. "The HFT application is for all car types and we are also actively looking at commercialising the application for trucks and other fleet vehicles," he added. Although hydrogen-based technology on vehicles is already well-known these days, an add-on system like HFT is the first of its kind and is suitable for all vehicles, he said. Mohamad Isa said RM20 million was spent on research over the last two years to come up with HFT, involving 10 scientists from Malaysia, Europe, the UK and the US. The HFT unit will be sold at RM3,000 each and can last up to five years depending on the car heat temperature, after which the system needs to be replaced. "Other car manufacturers are already producing hydrogen-based cars, but it costs a fortune. With the HFT application, consumers do not even have to replace the engine, just install the water tank and the canister to their existing cars," Mohamad Isa said. Over the next two years, he said, the company's main focus is to actively introduce and commercialise the HFT application in the local market before tapping the South-East Asia market. Asked if HFT will be viewed negatively by the world's oil companies, Mohamad Isa said: "Even the US is pushing for a hydrogen-powered car by 2015. Many people we spoke to are already curious and supportive of the application."
